Magazine review

The magazine that I browsed through was "Click"(nov/dec 2014), a magazine intended to inspire women photographers. This magazine is a very useful tool for many professionals and even beginner photographers. It provides its readers lots of inspiration and even advice to get to their desired level.

The magazine includes photo essays, before and afters of image production in Lightroom, advice from professional photographers and even lots of equipment ads that are relevant to the profession. I would definitely purchase this magazine off of the shelf and my favorite sections were the photo essays with detailed descriptions by the photographers. This magazine is full of beautiful images that desire and motivate the reader to become a better shooter. I believe this magazine targets many different types of photography to appeal to many different kinds of shooters. There's landscape, portrait, macro, creative, etc.

The one thing I noticed is that there's not a lot of sport or movement photography. I am okay with that absence because I am not focused on that type of photography anyway. I love the different portraits in the magazine because that's the section in photography that I am inclining towards.

In conclusion, this magazine is very impressive and I really am intrigued to read more issues. The content in the publication is very unique and I give it 4/5 stars. The images presented in this magazine are beautiful and that's what I love the most about it.

Sirli Raitma is a self taught photographer who is known for her landscape work. Raitmas work is very dark and mysterious and that is what attracted me to her work. There's a lot of fog in her images and it's very beautiful. I couldnt find the kind of equipment she uses because those websites are blocked by AISD but I am guessing that she uses a very wide lens because of the broad shots that she produces.

PAPER

paper thickness
opacity
color brilliance
paper finish

TAPPI- The way that paper is perceived in a cool white and a filtered daylight environment. The ultra-violet light component of TAPPI brightness is the lowest of any standard. TAPPI brightness will provide the lowest number of any of the three scales and the numbers will rarely exceed 100%.

ISO- This is a European standard... illuminated with a mix of cool white fluorescence and some unfiltered daylight. ISO standard yeilds higher brightness versus TAPPI. Can exceed 100%.

Event shoot #2

COLOR GUARD MAGAZINE:

Headline: A Glamorous Goodbye
Subhead: Guard performs one last time before traveling to Ohio for a world competition

As she catches her rifle in the splits, senior Jeniffer Saucedo makes sure to portray emotion for the audience. The directors emphasized facial expressions during practice to prepare the performers for the moment they stepped on stage. "If you perform with emotion, the show comes alive and it's more entertaining to watch," Saucedo said.

With a face full of energy, senior Kara Shannon attempts to connect with the audience. In order to keep the audience engaged, a performer must make eye contact. "Mr. Powell always tells us that when we catch a flag or a rifle, to always pick someone in the audience and make eye contact with them," Shannon said.

At the end of her performance, senior Laurie Bengoa finishes strongly. This performance was the team's last "Family and Friends Show" before traveling to Ohio for a world competition. "It was nice to showcase all of our hard work to the people we love the most before going off to competition," Bengoa said.

Being introduced to the audience, junior Kay Greene waves at the full crowd. After their performance, every guard member was introduced to the audience and fun facts about them were revealed. "It was so much fun because they announced who was in NHS, what colleges we were going to, what our heights were and stuff like that," Greene said.

warm up- delicious

1.     Link the website you visited and make sure your blog is titled the same as the links above..
http://www.mantoani.com/behind-photographs/m70jw97xpoj6sk3r49cuyso9fm7xad
2.     Briefly describe what you looked at on the website (2-3 sentences, make sure you write enough to really make it clear that you spent time looking at the website).
In this website I explored and read about the behind the scenes of great photographs. I got to see the photographer of really famous photographs and it was really eye opening. Its amazing to learn and have a better insight on quirky little facts that happened as the photographer took the picture.
3.     What did you learn new?

I learned that pictures don't tell 1000 words all of the time. A lot of these pictures have a deeper story that isn't visible in the shot. It was cool to know the photographers side of the story.
4.     If possible, post your favorite photo from the site.

5.     If you have a photo to post, please answer the following questions:
a.     Why did you pick this photo?

I think that this is one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. Despite the tragedy, I am in love.b.     What rules of photography do you see in the photo?
Theres balance. The two towers balance eachother perfectly. Also, theres leading lines. They lead right up to the explosion which is the main focus of the picturec.     Who took the photo?
Lyle Owerko
